Challenge: Aging Infrastructure & Natural Risks
The Waikato region faced challenges with outdated pump stations that were not fully equipped to manage flooding effectively.
These outdated facilities were not only inefficient but also posed a threat to the community, failing to adequately protect life and property. There was an urgent need to modernise these systems to ensure they could effectively manage river water levels and safeguard the community.
Solution: Preserving Life & Property
Seven Rivers, in collaboration with the Waikato Regional Council, stepped into an Engineer to Contract (ETC) role that has spanned several years. The objective was to align pump station upgrades with both the council’s long-term and short-term plans.
With an eye on sustainability and effectiveness, Seven Rivers diligently worked on planning, overseeing, and executing improvements to the pump stations. This was in line with the council’s broader goals of upgrading their flood mitigation systems as mentioned in their long-term plan and short-term objectives.
Project Insight: Efficient Service Delivery
Having been involved in similar projects, Seven Rivers was uniquely positioned to deliver an efficient service. Our expertise allowed for a deep understanding of the specific needs, challenges, and stories behind each pump station.
This resulted in well-informed decision-making and implementation processes, ensuring that the projects not only met but exceeded the standards set by the council.
Result: Protecting Communities
The revamped pump stations are now pivotal in mitigating the risks of flooding, contributing to the safety and security of the Waikato region.
The success of this project signifies not just an improvement in mechanical systems but a substantial step forward in the ongoing effort to protect both life and property.
